$150,000 paid to Christian student who balked at Chicago school's meditation program

The Chicago Board of Education and a foundation that sponsored a meditation program in the city's schools will pay a former student $150,000 under a court-approved settlement after the Christian student refused to participate in "mandated" Hindu rituals, the student's attorneys said Wednesday.
